We caught a cab from the Scribe Hotel in Paris to our Eurostar station and then enjoyed the journey from Paris through the French countryside. We were given breakfast as we were travelling first class and by the time we hit the tunnel I was asleep.
The train is modern and you are able to use both your mobile phones and computers (outlets for you to plug into are provided on the train. You do not realise how fast the train is travelling until you look at the cars on the highway that look as if they are travelling backwards.
We arrived at St Pancras Station and then dragged our bags for the few blocks up to Euston Station to catch the train to Coventry. we travelled to Coventry by Virgin Rail. The journey took over an hour but we passed through some beautiful English countryside.
We were met at Coventry Station by Diane and John and that afternoon saw some of the canals and canal boats in the area. We had dinner at a pub by one of the canals. Diane and John explained the workings of the locks and we saw a few boats using them. We were also fascinated by the number of swans, some of whom wondered through the grounds of the pub amongst the diners at the outdoor tables.
